Death of Mrs. John Kennebeck.

The circumstances attendant upon the sudden death of Mrs. John Kennebeck are very sad indeed. Wednesday morning Mrs. Adams, her next door neighbor, observed that the house remained closed until quite late and grew uneasy, knowing that Mrs. Kennebeck was alone, and attempted to get in but could not. With the aid of a ladder the chamber window in the second story was reached, and Mrs. Kennebeck was seen lying on the bed. Help was procured, the door forced open, and the women found their worst fears realized. She had been dead but a few hours. Death resulted from heart disease, and must have come suddenly and painlessly, as her features were as composed and as natural as in life, and there was no indication of any struggle. She had been suffering with heart disease for over three years, but of late had been apparently in a little better health. Mr. Kennebeck left here for Dow City and Denison Tuesday afternoon, intending to return the same evening, but was unavoidably detained at Denison. He was summoned, and reached here Wednesday noon. The funeral occurred yesterday, and the remains were taken to Hillsdale to repose with those of her little daughter, the only child, who died a few years ago.

Mrs. Kennebeck was born at St. Mary's, Elk county, Pennsylvania, in 1855, and grew to young womanhood there, and coming with her parents to this county about fifteen years ago. Her maiden name was Mary Bruning, and her aged parents, past the 70th mile post, survive her. She was married to John W. Kennebeck at Mt. Carmel in 1874, and one child was born to them, a daughter, who died in 1881. She was an earnest Christian, a woman who loved home and husband and family and could never be contented away from them. She was loved by all about her, and the sorrowing husband and the poor old father and mother have the warmest sympathies of our people in this hour of sore distress.
