Clemens Bruning Dead.

Word was received yesterday that Clemens Bruning was dangerously ill at his home in Breda. He was then thought to be dying but rallied for a time and lived until 11 o'clock this morning, when his spirit passed to its eternal rest. The disease was a complication of stomach troubles that have been a source of annoyance to him in the past. Mr. Bruning was one of the old settlers of Carroll county, having moved to Breda thirty years ago, and was in his seventieth year. He is related to a number of Carroll people and they are at Breda today to care for him in his last sickness.

Clemens Bruning was born in Germany in 1830 and came to America with his father's family when eighteen years of age. They settled in Grant county, Wis., Clemens afterward going to Galena, Ill. He married Miss Mary A. Arts, a sister of Wm. Arts of this city. From this union thirteen children were born, most of whom grew to manhood and womanhood. One of the sons, J. H. Bruning, was recorder of this county in 1887-88, and his wife was a daughter of A. L. Gnam of this city. He died a number of years ago. The other sons of Mr. Bruning are engaged with him in business at Breda. The deceased was a man of great natural ability, a first class business man, a firm friend and a good citizen. He will be greatly missed by those old settlers of the county with whom he was so well acquainted.

The funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10 o'clock at the Catholic church at Breda.
