Death of Mike O'Tool.

Mike O'Tool (sic) died at the home of his nephew, Frank O'Toole, northeast of town, last Friday evening after a short illness with heart disease, aged 75 years. Deceased had been in good health up to a month ago, when it was noticed that he was getting more feeble. However, the news of his death was a surprise to all.

Deceased was born in Ireland in the year 1832. At the age of 24 he emigrated with his brother, Francis, to this country and located in Wisconsin. In 1861 when the Civil War broke out, he enlisted in the services of the Union Army. He served until the end of the war, when he was honorably discharged and returned to Wisconsin, where his brother resided. During the war he received an injury, which permanently disabled him and incapacitated him from doing any heavy work. In 1861 he moved to Clinton, Iowa, where he remained five years, and then came to Sac county, locating on a farm, northeast of town. He resided there until about six or seven years ago, when he purchased the Adam Ettgen property and has since made his home here. Several years ago he was awarded a pension by the government for his services in the army. He was a single man, having nearly all the time made his home with his brother, Francis.

This adds another to the number of deaths in the O'Toole family in the past fourteen months. Father, mother, brother, sister and uncle all having passed away during that time. He is survived by nine nephews and one niece, all of whom were present at the funeral.

The funeral was held Monday and after a solemn requiem mass at the Catholic church the remains were interred in the Catholic cemetery. Peace to his soul. -- Breda Watchman.
