Mrs. Clem Bruning Dead

Mrs. Clem Bruning died Tuesday afternoon, December 17, 1918, at about three o'clock on the south bound afternoon passenger just as the train pulled into Carroll where she was being rushed to the hospital. She had been ill about seven days with influenza which developed into pneumonia.

Catherine Wempe was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Wempe, and was born March 11, 1893, on a farm near Breda. On November 27, 1917, she was united in marriage to Clem Bruning.

The remains were brought home Wednesday and funeral services were held at the Catholic church Friday morning at 9:30 and interment made in the Catholic cemetery here, Rev. J. A. Schulte officiating.

She leaves to mourn her death her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Wempe, sr., five brothers, Henry, Ben, Joe, Frank and John, all residing near Breda, and four sisters, Frances, Bernadine, at home, Mrs. Joe Orth, of Auburn, and Sister M. Marenta, of St. Francis Convent at Dubuque. Her husband followed her in death on Thursday, December 19th.
