Mrs. Herman Bruning died at her home last Friday evening at 9 o'clock after a month's illness with quick consumption, aged 47 years. Mrs. Bruning, whose maiden name was Anna Grote, was born in the state of Kentucky on the 22d day of April, 1856. In 1860 her parents moved to New Vienna, Iowa where they remained until the year 1880 when they moved to Breda and settled on a farm near town. In March, 1881, she was united in marriage to Herman Bruning. Nine children blessed their happy union, eight of whom are living, the youngest child having died a few weeks ago. The names of the surviving children are Lizzie, Rosa, Bernadina, Mary, Kate, Herman, Clem and Laura. The funeral services were held at the Catholic church Monday morning. Solemn requiem mass for the dead was sung after which the solemn procession wended its way to the Catholic cemetery, where interment was made. The funeral was largely attended, which showed the esteem in which the deceased was held in this community.
