Frank Van Erdewyk died at his home in this city last Sunday afternoon at 3:30, aged 71 years. Deceased had been ill for some time with cancer of the stomach, but he was not dangerously ill until a few days ago. His wife and two children were present at his deathbed. Frank Van Erdewyk was born in Linne, Holland, on the 15th day of June, 1832, and would have been 71 years old had he lived until the 15th of this month. In 1880 he emigrated with his family to this country and settled on a farm near Breda. Later on he moved to town and has lived here ever since. He was a kind and loving father and an honest and industrious man. He leaves a widow and two children, Miss Tehia, of this place, and Frank, cashier of the People's Savings bank at St. Benedict, Iowa, to mourn his loss. The funeral occurred Tuesday morning and after a solemn requiem mass at the Catholic church the remains were interred in the Catholic cemetery.
