Mrs. E. O. Rehker Funeral Services Held in Arcadia

Death Comes to Woman Nearly 90 Years Old After Week's Illness

Funeral services for Mrs. Edward O. Rehker, nearly 90 years old, who died Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Seier, at Elgin, Neb., were held this morning at 8:30 in St. John's Catholic church in Arcadia. The Rev. Father Stork read the requiem mass and burial was in the Arcadia cemetery.

Mrs. Rehker was seriously ill only one week and died as the result of a hemorrhage and other complications, due to old age.

Mrs. Rehker, formerly Miss Philemena Hinners, was born Nov. 1, 1844 in Muensper, O., and when 11 years old, the family moved to Dubuque county, Ia.

Married in 1862

In 1862 she was married to John H. Schroeder in new Vienna, Ia., where they resided for several years. To this union four children were born, Mrs. Elizabeth Schrad of Randolph, Neb., Mrs. Clem Olberding, of Vail, Mrs. Joseph Pilnacer of Dubuque, John A. Schroeder of Arcadia.

John Schroeder, sr., died in 1870, in New Vienna, Ia.

In 1872 she was married to Edward O. Rehker in New Vienna, and they resided a few years on a farm near there. In 1881 they moved to Arcadia and went to farming where they lived until 1894, then moved to the town of Arcadia. To this union four children were born, Mrs. Frank Varwald (Kate) of Umberger, Tex., Mrs. William Seier (Minnie) of Elgin, Neb., J. R. Rehker of Arcadia, and Mrs. Bernadine Happe, now deceased.

Survivors

She is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. Bernadine Saugman of Raeville, Neb., Mrs. Gertrude Gerken and Mrs. Elizabeth Norton both of New Vienna, Ia., 30 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Rehker was a member of the Christian Mothers Sodality and died well fortified with the rites of the Catholic church.
