Arcadia, Nov. 30 -- Elizabeth Warning Thieman was born June 29, 1838, in Kloster Marienthal, Westphalia, Germany, and died November 25, 1926. She was married to Joseph Thieman in Stehle, Germany and came to America and settled in Arcadia in 1873. To this union eight children were born, four of whom preceded her in death. Those living are Joseph and George of Wessington, S. D.; Theodore of Randolph, Neb., and Mrs. Kate Niehaus of Arcadia; also a brother, Rev. Fr. Warning of Dyersville. He read the solemn requiem mass at the funeral. There are 34 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held in St. John's Catholic church Saturday morning at 10 o'clock. Burial was made in the Catholic cemetery. Mrs. Thieman was one of the oldest and most respected citizens of Arcadia and leaves a host of friends who will greatly miss her. She was a devout Catholic and received the last sacraments of the church. Out-of-town relatives attending the funeral were her sons and brother and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Leifelt and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Leifelt of Petersburg, Neb.; Leo Niehaus of Chicago; Joseph Julichs of Mt. Carmel; Norbert Julichs of Vail; Mr. and Mrs. Wegman of Breda; Mr. and Mrs. John Roth of Templeton; Mr. and Mrs. Clem Bergman of Carroll and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Terlisner of Carroll. The children wish to thank the neighbors and friends who so kindly assisted them during the illness and death of their mother.
