JOHN A. REINEKE

COON RAPIDS—John A. Reineke, 82, a retired farmer, died Sunday, September 12, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll. He had been in failing health for several years.

Rite of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 15, at Annunciation Catholic church in Coon Rapids with the Rev. E. V. Carpenter as celebrant. Burial will be in the St. Joseph parish cemetery in Dedham. Serving as casket bearers will be David Becker, David, Edward and Adolph Reineke, Duane Vrieze and John Hofbauer.

A rosary, led by Fr. Carpenter, will be recited at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Ohde Funeral Home in Coon Rapids.

Mr. Reineke is survived by a brother, Frank Reineke, Randolph Nebraska; a sister Anna Jilg, Norfolk, Nebraska; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters: Alvina and Louise Reineke, Veronica McMahon and Elizabeth Berger; three brothers: George, Fred Jr., and Anton Reineke, and his wife Marcella who died on January 24, 1974.

Mr. Reineke was born December 3, 1899, in Carroll, a son of Fred and Barbara Straub Reineke. He moved with his parents to Randolph, Neb., as a youth and attended St. Francis school. He was married to Marcella Shannahan [Shanahan] on January 6, 1936. They farmed near Randolph for several years, then moved to Dedham where they continued to farm until his retirement and move to Coon Rapids in the late 1940s.

He continued to be active, caring for a large garden each year. For the past five years his niece, Helen Reineke, has made her home with him and cared for him. He was a member of Annunciation church.
