Long Time Resident of the County Dead

Came to America From Germany in 1881 and Was Married Here One Year Later

Peter Berger, one of the highly esteemed residents of Willey, died Saturday morning, May 1, at 3:15 o'clock after being in poor health for some time. He passed away fully fortified wiht the last sacraments of the Catholic church of which he had been a life member. His illness extended over a period of three years, during which time he suffered with cancer, and for the malady he underwent two operations.

Mr. Berger was born in Entlau, near Arbing, Germany. June 28, 1857, and came to America in 1881. He was married the following year to Miss Theresia Nagl, who had come to America seven years earlier than he did. Their marriage was solemnized in Carroll county.

Of the ten children born to Mr. and Mrs. Berger all are living and made frequent visits to their father during his illness and were at his bedside at the time of his death. Mrs. Berger also survives him.

The children are Mrs. Frances Flies, Dedham; Peter, George, John, Mike, Joe, Matt, of Willey; Frank of Dedham; Mrs. Mary Grossman, Willey; Mrs. Catherine Brincks, Willey.

Mr. Berger was a kindly man who lived a useful, busy life and was highly respected by all who knew him.

Funeral services were held Monday morning at 9 o'clock at the St. Mary's church Willey and burial was made in the Willey cemetery.
