Funeral Services Mrs. Zitzlsperger Held Last Thursday

Well Known Carroll County Mother Dies Following a Protracted Illness

Mrs. Anna Balk Zitzlsperger died at her home near Willey, Ia., Tuesday, September 17th, after being in poor health for a year and a half. She was uncomplaining and cheerful in spite of her failing health, and the family did not know how serious her condition was until Sunday before her death. All of the members of the family were with her in her last illness.

Mrs. Zitzlsperger, as Anna Balk, was born at St. Lucas, Ia., August 1, 1863. At the age of 18 years she was united in marriage to Michael Zitzlsperger at Willey, Ia. They located on a farm two miles west and one-half mile south of Willey, where Mrs. Zitlsperger lived until her death.

Eleven children were born to them, ten of whom, with the husband survive. The children are Mrs. Mary Simon of Algona, Ia.; Mrs. Frances Beyer, Mrs. Anna Beyer and Mrs. Katherine Beyer, all of Willey; Veronica, who is married and lives at Mason City; Margaret, also married, who lives at Columbus, Nebr.; Frank, John, William and Dorothy at home. One son, George, preceded his mother in death.

Besides her husband and children she also leaves five brothers and one sister: Lawrence Balk, Wilmont, Minn.; John Balk, Howard, S. D.; Frank Balk, Sioux Falls, S. D.; Adam Balk, Worthington, Minn.; Mike Balk and Mrs. John Broich, Willey, Ia.

Mrs. Zitzlsperger was a devout Christian, a faithful member of the Catholic church, and died fully fortified with its last rites. She was a good, kind, loving and thoughtful mother, and a true friend to all who knew her.

Funeral services were held Thursday morning, September 19, 1929, at St. Mary's church, Willey, with Rev. H. J. Dries celebrating the requiem high mass. Interment was made in the Willey cemetery.

The pall bearers were the three sons and three grandsons.

Relatives attending the funeral from a distance were Lawrence Balk and son, Fred, Wilmont, Minn.; John Balk, Howard, S. D.; Frank Balk, Sioux Falls, S. D.; Mr. and Mrs. Adam Balk, Worthington, Minn.; Mrs. Grace Zitzlsperger, Omaha, and Mr. and Mrs. Otto Zacek, West Point, Nebr.
