Michael Nagl, Sr., Pioneer Resident of Carroll County, Dies

Funeral Services Will Be Held At Ss. Peter and Paul

Heart Attack Fatal To Retired Resident; Sick Two Weeks

Michale Nagl, sr., 81, Carroll county pioneer, died at 6:30 o'clock Sunday morning at the Nagl home at 111 West Bluff street.

Mr. Nagl became sick about two weeks ago with the flu. Although bedfast most of the time since then, his condition did not appear serious. A heart attack is thought to have caused his death.

Born in Germany

Mr. Nagl was the son of Joseph and Frances Nagl. He was born on July 9, 1855 at Kingzing, Niederbayern, Germany. He received his early education in that country and in 1873, at the age of 18 years, came to America. He located in Roselle township and had been a Carroll county resident since then.

On March 10, 1879, Miss Kreszenz Zitzlsperger became his bride at the Holy Angels church in Roselle. Rev. Father Wegman performed the marriage ceremony. They farmed in Roselle township and later moved to Eden township. In October, 1920, Mr. and Mrs. Nagl retired and came to Carroll. They built a home on Bluff street and had resided there since. Mrs. Nagl died Nov. 3, 1935.

Survivors

Survivors include the following sons and daughters: Geroge M. and M. M. of Carroll, Louis M. of Roselle, Joseph M., of Templeton, Mrs. John Kennebeck (Mary) of Dedham, Mrs. Henry Hoffman (Kate) of Dedham, Frank of Willey; a sister, Mrs. Theresa Berger of Willey; 22 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Others preceding him in death where his son, John, his parents, a brother and two sisters: Joseph, Mrs. Frank Westermeier and Mrs. George Danzer.

Mr. Nagl was a member of the Ss. Peter and Paul church. He belonged to the Holy Name society here and also was a member of the rosary society of the St. Mary church at Willey.

Rites Wednesday

Funeral services will be held at 8:30 o'clock Wednesday morning at the Ss. Peter and Paul church. Rev. Lambert Schenkelberg will read the requiem mass. At 10 o'clock, a solemn requiem high mass will be said at the St. Mary church in Willey. Officers of the mass will be: Rev. Father Huelshorst of Dedham, Rev. Louis Anthofer of Roselle and Rev. Father H. J. Dries of Willey. Burial will be in the Willey cemetery.

The body was taken to the Nagl home from the Gregory Funeral home Sunday afternoon.
