Last Thursday the remains of Frank Hoffman were laid to rest in SS. Peter and Paul's cemetery. The funeral was held at the church and was largely attended. The deceased was born at Harper, June 14, 1869. The family located in this county when Frank was but a small boy and he has made his home here during a greater part of the time since. In 1895 he was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Heckman.

For some time he was employed in the wagon business at Vail and Denison and from there located in Manning where he worked at the carpenter trade with his brother Matt until in 1900 he removed to this city where he has followed the carpenter trade. The deceased has been sick during the past year with cancer of the throat and though he did all that was possible medical skill failed to bring relief.

During the last remaining weeks of life he was a great sufferer but bore up patiently ever thoughtful of the knowledge that all was being done for him that mortal hands could do.

Besides a loving wife the following relatives mourn his death: Mrs. Fred Lappe of Grant township, Miss Kate Hoffmann of Carroll, Mrs. Herman Fipp of Gainesville, Texas, Hubert Hoffman of Chicago, J. J. Hoffman of Carroll, N. W. Hoffmann of Worcester, Mass., Mrs. L. G. Meinhardt of Carroll and Mrs. Susie Le Duc of Chicago. The bereaved wife, now that she is left alone, has the satisfaction of knowing that she did her part faithfully and lovingly to make life's burdens as light as possible and rendered every assistance within her power to heal up the ravages of that awful disease which nothing but death could satisfy.
