OBITUARY—G.H. KOHORST

The history of a busy life closed with the death of our esteemed citizen, G.H. Kohorst on Saturday March 17th 1906. He was born on December 4, 1822, and was therefore 83 years 3 months and 13 days old. His birthplace was Brochdorf, Lohne, Grandduchy Oldenburg, Germany, and there he was married and spent the greater part of his life. He came to America in 1885 and for six years lived at Breda, removing then to this vicinity and making his home with his son, J.H. Kohorst.

He had seven children as follows: Gerhard, Newport, KY; J.H., and Lizzie, Mrs. Anton Hoelscher at Arcadia; Clements at Iona; and Lina, Mrs. August Sieve, at Wilmont, Minn. One son, Bernard, died here in 1894, 30 years of age; another, Joseph, died at St. Kilian, Minn, 16 years old. There also survive the departed his brother, Herman H. Kohorst in Stearns Co. Minn.

The funeral on Tuesday March 20 at Arcadia was largely attended and showed the high esteem in which the family is held. The Times scribe joins in the general condolence.
