Death of Mrs. Palszer

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Palszer died June 23 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Tony Spieker, near Carroll, aged 70 years, 9 months and 28 days. She was feeling well and went to feed the chickens when she fainted away and died at once. She had planned a visit to her sister, Mrs. Fritz of this city, and her death came as a great surprise to her many friends. For the past years, since the death of her husband in 1906, she has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Anton Spieker. She was born in Louis county, New York, in 1845. In 1865 she, with her parents, came to Clinton county, Iowa, and one year later she was united in marriage to Jacob Palszer. To this union seven children were born, three of whom diphtheria claimed in 1876, the four living are Mrs. Joseph Schroer, of this place; Mrs. Jim Fritz; Mrs. Joseph Spieker and Mrs. Anton Spieker, of Carroll. Besides her children she leaves to mourn her loss her sister, Mrs. K.M. Fritz, and four brothers, Adam, Frank, Peter and Ben. Mrs. Palszer was a devout Catholic and a charter member of the Christian mothers. She was a loving mother and loved by all her friends who will miss her kindly smile and cheery greetings. The remains were brought to this city Monday and services were held at the St. John Catholic church, Rev. Schulte officiating. Interment was made at St. John’s cemetery and she was laid beside her husband. May she rest in peace.
