Obituaries

Mary Ann Hondlos

Mary Ann Hondlos, 73, of Carroll died Aug. 19 at her home following a lingering illness. The Mass of the Christian burial was celebrated Aug. 22 at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll. The St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary formed an honor guard for the funeral mass. Burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
Mrs. Hondlos was born Jan. 19, 1929, at Roselle, the daughter of Joseph and W. and Mary Hoffman. she spent her younger years in Roselle and attended Holy Angels School. She married Joseph Hondlos in 1950 at Holy Angels Church.
The couple spent their married life on the family farm east of Willey and moved to their home in Carroll in 1990.
She was a member of St. Lawrence Parish, the Parish Ladies Club, St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary and the Old Carrollton Club. She was a New Hope Village volunteer.
Survivors include her husband; nine children, Gary of Carroll, Joseph Jr. of Milford, Kan., Duane of Lake City, Dan of Carroll, Karen (Mrs. Dan) Nieland of Breda, Kenneth of Missouri Valley, Rick of Lake City, Margaret (Mrs. Larry)Saddoris of Madrid and Alan of Coon Rapids; 32 grandchildren; and three brothers, Joe of Ruthven, Lambert of Graettinger and Norbert of Carroll.
She was preceded in death by herparents; six brothers Louis, Albert, MsgrLawrence, Leonard, John, and Andrew; and one brother in infancy.
