Death of John Eltgroth

John Eltgroth, a highly esteemed and prosperous citizen of Roselle township, passed away at his home Friday, October 12, after a short illness with pneumonia. He had been ailing with liver trouble and had recently been under treatment for it at St. Anthony’s hospital. After leaving the hospital he contracted a heavy cold which developed into pneumonia.

The disease worked very speedily. A few days before his death he was among his friends and on the Sunday previous was at his accustomed place in church.

He was born at Dubuque, Iowa, February 26, 1872, and on May 23, 1898 married Miss Catherine Eich. They made their home in Carroll until about ten years ago when they moved to their present home in Roselle township. While a resident of the city Mr. Eltgroth was foreman of the Demokrat Printing Company and was employed for that company nineteen years.

Besides his wife he leaves two daughters and two brothers, Nicholas Eltgroth, of West Union, Minnesota, and Anthony Eltgroth, of Holding Ford, Minnesota.

The funeral was held from SS. Peter and Paul’s church Monday morning, Father Kuemper officiating.
