Thursday afternoon at 1:00, Mrs. Amanda Sharp, wife of Elder J.F. Sharp died at her home in the north east part of this city. She had, in spite of not feeling well for some time, gone to her favorite place, the house of worship, about 10 days ago. There she suffered a paralytic stroke and had to be taken home. Since then she gradually grew weaker until at last she laid down life's burden which she had borne without a murmur for over 67 years. Amanda Ferree was born in Pennsylvania on Christmas day 1837. There she grew to virtuous womanhood and was converted at the age of 18. She became the wife of Elder Sharp in 1855. Not only was she a true, loving and devoted wife, but she was in her place as a minister's wife, the oppportunity for assisting in the gospel work. This spirit animated her to the last and she was a helpmate indeed in all his years of labor in the Lord's vineyard. There was born the them 12 children, of whom 5 have preceded the mother the the Great Beyond. The seven who survive are: Marion of Missouri, Robert of Lexington, NE, William of Yetter, Frank of Wall Lake, Arthur and Mrs. Eleanora Farrell of Carroll and Mrs. Laura Callaway of Carrollton. All were present at the funeral but Marion who had been called here by her illness, but had to return home shortly before her death. The funeral was conducted by Rev. D.S. Wood of Mason City, last Sunday afternoon at 3:00, services being held at the Church of God. The text was Isaiah 66.1 Whoesome words of instruction and consolation for the living were pronounced by the clergyman. At the conclusion all that was mortal of a dutiful wife and mother, the kind neighbor and faithful Christian, was taken out to be clasped by the great mother of all that's terrestrial "where each shall take his chamber in the silent halls of death."
