Ida Mae Boell, age 92, of Carroll passed away at the St. Anthony Nursing Home on Tuesday, January 2, 2007. Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 6 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Carroll with Pastor Ausmus of Pilgrim Lutheran Church of Lake City officiating. Burial was in the Carroll City Cemetery. Ida was born on September 20, 1914 in Glidden, Iowa to Herbert and Alma (Tharp) Trafford. She graduated from the Glidden High School. Ida was united in marriage to Virgil Boell on March 6, 1935 in Denison, Iowa. She was a cook supervisor at the Carroll Health Center, then later at Fairview Elementary. Ida also was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church of Lake City. Ida lived all of her life in the Carroll County area, living in Glidden, Lidderdale, Lake City and Carroll. Ida was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Virgil, sister Alta Petersen, sister Leora Patterson, brother-in-law Marvin Boell, brother Robert Trafford, and her brother Donald Trafford. She is survived by her son Virgil Boell, Jr. and his wife Lorraine of Carroll, daughter Janice Mobley and her husband John of Sacramento, California, son Eugene Boell and his wife Diane of Lidderdale, Iowa, 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, a sister Norma Martin and her husband Dick of California, sister Lola Golding and her husband Phil of Boone, Iowa, sister Betty Warnke and her husband Norman of Carroll, Iowa, brother Bertrum Trafford of Florida, and sister-in-law Nadine Boell of Carroll.
