John and Louisa Berns Topp Sr.
John Topp, Sr., was born in Mecklenburg, Schwerin, Germany, in 1853. He came to America at the age of 17 making his home in Illinois until 1879. He married Louisa Berns in the Lutheran Church in Joliet, Illinois. The lived on a farm in Will County, Illinois, for four years. They then moved to Iowa and lived on a farm for one and a half years before purchasing the same. They farmed and lived on that farm for 28 years. In 1920 they purchased a home in Glidden, Iowa, where they resided for nine years before selling the same and purchasing a home in Lidderdale. They lived in Lidderdale until their deaths, John in 1934 and Louisa in 1935. They had four children from this union: William, John Jr. Sophia and Louise. William married Anna Peter, a farm girl. John Jr. Married Hannah Seeden, a farm girl. Sophia married a Mr. Henry Seeden. They lived in Lidderdale where he had a blacksmith shop on the middle of Main Street and on the east side. He also made a motor vehicle that ran in the early 100's. They had two children, John, and a daughter who died in infancy.
Louise married a Mr. Fred Breidert.
