Taken from the Lidderdale Centennial Book.

Seede Seeden was born in Germany in 1827. In 1870 he married Lotte Niebur Brown. They became the parents of three children: Henry, Harm and Maggie. Their wish was to come to America where they already had relatives named Bushman, who told them that life was better over here. The oldest son, Henry came over first, in 1890. The rest of the family followed in 1891 after the Bushman relative helped them get passports. They arrived at New York harbor and then traveled to Glidden Iowa, by train. They stayed with the Bushman relatives until Seede and Harm found jobs on farms and could repay the relatives for their passports. The family later farmed some land, also near Glidden, which belonged to the Prill family. Seede was never very well and he died in 1896. Lotte was born at Emden, in the province of Ostfriesland, Germany, on Feb. 11, 1839. Lotte, her daughter Maggie, and son Harm, continued to live on the farm. After her children married, she lived alternately between their homes. Lotte was called "Oma" by family and friends. Oma means grandmother in German. She was a resident of Lidderdale for seventeen years. She passed away on Jan. 13, 1928.
