Young Moore was born on May 29, 1854, at Brampton, Peel Country, Canada. He was of purely Irish descent. He married Addie Louise Barhart. She was born on Jan. 22, 1864 in Jasper county Indiana. They lived on a farm one mile north and one mile east of Lidderdale Iowa. They had six children. Bertha Mae was born Feb. 6, 1881. She married Carl Rawstern. They had seven children together. Bertha died in 1926. Ernest Moore was born on Aug. 9, 1884. He married Emma Rodman. They had four children. Ernest died in 1930. John Ross Moore was born 1885. He married Zada Wood. They had three children. Carl Moore was born 1890. He married Agnes Peters. They had two children. Harvey Moore was born on Aug. 31, 1894. He married Bernice Chipman. They had two children. He died on June 19, 1942. Chester Joseph Moore was born on Feb. 22, 1899. He married Geraldine Gotsch. They had six children. He died on Jan. 17, 1953.
Addie died on Jan. 30, 1905, of tuberculosis. Young then married Nellie Francis Chipman on Nov. 6, 1907. Nellie was a school teacher at the county school across from the Moore farm. She was born in Glidden, Iowa, on March 9, 1885. She and Young had one son, M. Merle Moore, born on March 17, 1909. Merle married Velma Browning and they had two children, Merle died on January 25, 1995.
Young and Nellie rented their farm and moved to Glidden Iowa in 1913. They were active members of the Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. Young was a third degree Mason and Nellie was a member of Eastern Star. Young died on Dec. 27, 1936, while walking from his stalled car to his old farm home for help. Young and his first wife are buried at East Liberty Cemetery. Nellie moved to Irwin, Iowa, to be near her son Merle. She died on July 19, 1980, and is buried at Irwin, Iowa.
