Don William Albrecht
(January 23, 1933 - February 18, 2020)

Don William Albrecht, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, age 87, of rural Pomeroy, Iowa, died on February 18, 2020, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. Don was born on the family farm on January 23, 1933, southwest of Pomeroy and attended country school, Immanuel Lutheran School, Amphitheater High School in Tucson, Arizona, and graduated from Pomeroy High School. Don married Esther Leva Olsen on November 18, 1956. To this union two children were born, Suzanne (Albrecht) Klocke, and David Albrecht. Don and Esther worked together as a team to farm the family farm for 63 years and raised hogs for over 40 years together.
Don loved to play cards and checkers and watch sports. He was a loyal Hawkeye fan and also became a Cyclone fan after both of his children graduated from Iowa State University. Don was a life-long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pomeroy. His family will miss his loving presence and wonderful example of a life lived for the Lord as a Christian husband, father, grandpa, and father-in-law. There will be no visitation. A funeral for immediate family members will be held at Powers Funeral Home in Pomeroy. Surviving family members include: Wife, Esther; Daughter, Suzanne (Craig) Klocke, Ames, Iowa; Son, David (Mary) Albrecht, LeMars, Iowa; six grandchildren, Krista Klocke, Ames, Iowa; Matthew Klocke, Brooklyn Park, Minnesota; Ote Albrecht, Ames, Iowa; Kara Albrecht, Hannah Albrecht, and Jaxson Albrecht, LeMars, Iowa; and Sister, Carol (Albrecht) Hallock, Newbury Park, California. Don was preceded in death by his Mother, Anne (Block) Albrecht; his Father, August Albrecht; and his Sister, Shirley (Albrecht) Khurt.
