William Marion Drake
(August 1, 1852 – July 18, 1936)

Obituary
William Marion Drake, oldest son of Dennis and Caroline Drake, was born Aug. 1, 1852, in Athens County, Ohio, and passes away at his home west of Farnhamville, Saturday, July 18 at the age of 83 years, 11 months two weeks and three days. When he was 12 years old, he moved with his parents to Russell, Lucas County, Ia. At the age of 29 he joined the Presbyterian church at LaGrange. On Mar. 16, 1875 he was united in marriage to Sarilda Madora Summers. They made their home near Russell until 1878 when they moved to Missouri for one year after which time they came to Calhoun County in a covered wagon. They settled on a farm a mile south of Farnhamville where they lived for eight years. Then they moved to the farm 3 ½ miles west of Farnhamville where he lived nearly 48 years. Mrs. Drake departed this life May 31, 1931. For the past 12 weeks Mr. Drake had been bedfast and was cared for by his daughter, Mrs. Alta Miller, assisted by the other children. To mourn he leaves five children, Charles F. of Jackson, Minn., John L. of Perry, Mrs. Carrie A. Clark of Lohrville, Roy E. of Farnhamville, Mrs. Alta M. Miller of Lohrville; 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; one brother, James of Russell, and one sister, Mrs. Etta Bond of Chariton, besides many other relatives and friends.
