Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, May 27, for Mrs. Ernestine Vonhoff at St. Paul’s Lutheran church and interment was made in St. Paul’s Cemetery, north of Manson. Mrs. Ernestine Vonhoff, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Mueller, was born Feb. 2, 1853, in Pomerania, Germany. She came to this country in 1868 and made her home for some time in Beaver Dam, Wis. There she was married to Frederick Anton Vonhoff on Dec. 7, 1871. This union was blessed with nine children, three of whom preceded their parents in death. In 1875 the family moved to Iowa, settling on a farm in Lizard Township, Pocahontas County, and this township remained Mrs. Vonhoff’s home until death. Mrs. Vonhoff’s husband passed away Feb. 16, 1929. She leaves to mourn her departure two sons, August and Otto, both living north of Manson; four daughters, Mrs. Reka Hinrichs, Mrs. Bertha Onken, Mrs. Anna Saathoff and Mrs. Martha Rost, 34 grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and three sisters, Mrs. John Julius of Fort Dodge, Mrs. Herman Zilisch of Milwaukee, Wis., and Mrs. Augusta Kenning of Manson.
