William Henry Dietrich Focke
(June 1, 1880 – February 2, 1940)Obituary
William Henry Dietrich Focke, fourth child of Dietrich and Louise Focke, was born near Lowden, Ia., June 1, 1880 and died Feb. 2, 1940, at Lytton, Ia., at the age of 59 years, 8 months and 1 day. In 1890 they moved on their home farm four miles north of Lytton, where he lived until his death. In early infancy he was baptized, and on March 18, 1894, he was confirmed by the Rev. J. Dorullis in Immanuel Lutheran Church of Coon Valley, Sac County, Ia. Mr. Focke was a member of the Lutheran church all his life. Shortly before his departure he received holy communion. He enjoyed comparatively good health until he was struck with a heart attack in 1935. Even though he partly recovered, he had not been very will ever since. About two weeks ago he went to the Lytton hospital, recuperating rather satisfactorily. When he thought that he was about ready to go home, he was suddenly summoned to his heavenly home. Besides his parents, one sister, Caroline, and one brother, Henry, preceded him into eternity. He leaves his only brother, Louis, nephews, nieces and other relatives. Pallbearers for the funeral services held Monday, Feb. 5, were John Helmbrecht, Fred Helmbrecht, Walter Helmbrecht, Otto Helmbrecht, Charles Kruckenberg and William Krukenberg. Interment was in North Lutheran Cemetery. Source – Rockwell City Advocate and Calhoun County Republican, Rockwell City, Iowa, Thursday, Feb. 8, 1940, p.6
