Lois Heesch Hurdel
(October 9, 1906 – February 3, 1940)Obituary
Lois Heesch Hurdel was born at Ceylon, Minn., on Oct 9, 1906. When a small child she moved with her parents to Lake City which was her girlhood home, with the exception of one year during which she resided in Waterloo. She was educated in the Lake City public schools, graduating with the class of 1925. Following this she took some work in a business college in Des Moines. When about 10 years of age she was baptized and united with the United Brethren church. Following her marriage and during her residence in Rockwell City she was regular in her attendance at the Presbyterian church of that city and definitely affiliated herself with its activities. On Oct. 5, 1930 she was untied in marriage to Lloyd L. Hurdel of Rockwell City at the Little Brown Church, famous for the number of couples who yearly come to be married. To this union three children were born, all of whom with her husband survive. A few years ago she began to fail in health and in spite of all that was done to stem the time of increasing weakness, she gradually became worse. This meant a long period of suffering and watchful anxiety for the family and friends. Finally on Saturday, Feb. 3, 1940, she was released from her suffering and passed quietly to her reward. There remain to mourn her loss her husband, Lloyd L. Hurdel of Lake City, and three children, Daryl (9), Loretta (4), and Sandra (2). There are also her mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. P. F. Heesch of Lake City; two brothers, Harold and Raymond, also of Lake City, and two sisters, Mrs. Leona Samuelson of Rockwell City and Mrs. Anita Rubendall of Fonda.
