Mrs. Mercer’s Father Dies from Pneumonia
Funeral services were held Tuesday for Charles S. Hopkins, 89, father of Mrs. W. W. Mercer, who died Monday at University Hospital from pneumonia. Mr. Hopkins had been in failing health the past few months and had been a patient at University Hospital since January 6. He was born in Lockport, Ill., and later moved to Lake City, Iowa where he was engaged in retailing for 50 years. He had made his home here with his son-in-law and daughter. Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Mercer, 621 South Summit Street for the past three years. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and was a 32nd degree Mason. He is survived by Mrs. Mercer, a granddaughter, Ann Mercer and a sister, Mrs. Huff of Detroit. Services were conducted at Beckman’s under the direction of the McGovern Funeral Home.
