Justin F. Baden
(March 28, 1885 – February 17, 1974)Lake City – J. F. Baden, 88, of Austin, Texas, formerly of Lake City and Farnhamville, died Sunday, Feb 17, in Austin. Private graveside services were held Feb. 19, with Rev. Carl Eaton officiating. J. F. Baden was born March 28, 1885 in Greene County, Iowa, the son of Martin and Nancy Harrison Baden. His brothers, Walter, Marion and William, and his sister, Louella Young, are all deceased. The family lived in and around Lake City on farms as the children grew up. Mr. Baden went to work in Carlson General Merchandise Store in Farnhamville where he met Laura Bassett. They were married Jan. 1, 1907 and lived a short time in Farnhamville before moving to Lake City where he had his own store. In 1936 they moved to Independence where he was president of the Security State Bank until retirement in 1948. Then they moved to Austin, Texas where they were members of the Covenant Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife, Laura F. Baden of Austin; two sons, Dr. Ervin E. Baden, M. C. of Austin, and Dr. Wayne F. Baden, M.D. of Slado; and one daughter, Mrs. Arthur (Eva) Anderle, Austin; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
