(March 29, 1927 - June 2, 2014)

Leon J. Kramer - age 87, of Pomeroy, passed away on Monday, June 2, 2014, at the Pomeroy Care Center in Pomeroy, Iowa. Leon John Kramer was born March 29, 1927, at Carroll, Iowa. He was the son of Bernard and Marie (Ocken) Kramer. On June 26, 1951, Leon married Gladys Hoffman at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hayfield, MN. The couple farmed in Minnesota for six years before moving to Fonda, where they continued to farm until their retirement in 1993. They then made their home in Pomeroy. Gladys passed away in 2009. Leon was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed fishing, reading, golfing, and was an avid cribbage player. Leon was a devoted husband and father. One of his greatest accomplishments was his children, whom he was very proud of. Survivors include his children: Dwight (Zoeann) Kramer of Ames, Susan Kramer of Pine River, MN, Debbie (David) Lynn of Osceola, David (Pam) Kramer of St. Joseph, MO, Mary Kay (Mark) Walker of Sioux City, Joseph Kramer of St. Cloud, MN and Tony (Carol) Kramer of Nisswa, MN; sixteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Reis of Pocahontas and Linda (Dick) Wirges of Omaha, NE; brothers, Kenneth (Marlene) Kramer of Alta; Robert (Mariam) Kramer of Storm Lake; Ben Jr. (Fran) Kramer, Jerry Kramer and John (Sandi) Kramer all of Pocahontas; and Mike (Pauline) Kramer of Cherokee and many nieces & nephews. Leon was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Gladys; a son, William, who died in infancy; and brothers, Vernis, Eugene and Loren.
