Eleanor C. Sandvig
(March 2, 1923 - September 30, 2013)

Eleanor Sandvig, age 90, passed away on September 30, 2013, at Manson, Iowa. Elnora (Eleanor) Carolina Dornath was born on March 2, 1923, at Palmer. She was the daughter of George and Emma (Ihnen) Dornath. Eleanor was educated in area schools and graduated from Gilmore City High School in 1942. On May 5, 1943, Eleanor married William Sandvig at Fairmont, MN. The couple made their home in Rolfe. She worked at Beckord's hatchery for many years and later the Rolfe Care Center and cleaned the Rolfe Post Office, retiring when she was 85 years old. Bill Passed away on March 12, 2003, and Eleanor has continued to make her home in Rolfe. She entered the Manson Good Samaritan Center in January of 2013. Eleanor was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, the altar guild and the Love Circle. She enjoyed embroidery, gardening and baking sugar cookies and pies. She especially loved spending time with her many friends and family. Survivors include her daughters: Linda (Lyle) Reese of Farnhamville and Carol (Joe) Boeckholt of Rolfe; grandchildren: Brenda Terranova, Becky (Chad) Struthers, Brian (Carrie) Reese, Troy (Angie) Boeckholt and Tom (Jonna) Boeckholt; eleven great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Lois (Gary) Woolery of Ames and Charlene (Luther) Nahnsen of Fort Dodge and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bill, grandson, Gordy Terranova, sisters, Minnie Zimmernam, Tina Niemand, Ricka Eichelberger, Marlys Litwiller and Edna Eichelberger and brothers, Henry Jasper and LuVerne Dornath.
