(August 29, 1918 - October 9, 2013)

Elsie Meyer, age 95, of Pomeroy was called home by her Heavenly Father on October 9, 2013, at the Pomeroy Care Center. Elsie Lorinda (Franzen) Meyer was born in Leigh, Nebraska on August 29, 1918. She was the daughter of Heie and Bertha (Schlueter) Franzen. She was raised on a farm just north of Leigh, Nebraska and attended and graduated from Leigh Public Schools. Elsie was married to Norman Meyer on June 29, 1941 in Pomeroy, Iowa and to this union were born two sons, Merlin and Alan. Elsie and Norman lived on a farm south of Pomeroy until 1957 at which time they moved to Pomeroy where they purchased the drug store. They operated the store until Norman's death in 1967 after which she continued to operate the business until retiring in 1980. For several years after retiring she worked at the Pomeroy Care Center doing laundry and mending. Elsie was a long time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pomeroy where she participated in choir, ladies aide and LWML. She was also a member of the Pomeroy Senior Citizens, Community Club, Town and Country Boosters. She enjoyed working with crafts, playing solitare, crossword puzzles and playing cards. Her greatest joy was being with her family and friends. Elsie is survived by her sons: Merlin (Carol) of Pomeroy and Alan (Karen) of Omaha, Nebraska; six grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Norman, one great-granddaughter, Raelyn and three brothers and three sisters.
