Steve Johnson, age 75, of Pomeroy, passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, near Pomeroy, Iowa. Marvin Steven Johnson was born August 11, 1947 in Laurens, Iowa. He was the son of Marvin and Mary (Smith) Johnson. Steve graduated from the Albert City High School in 1965. He continued his education at the University of Iowa and Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge. Following his time in school, he lived in Fort Dodge and worked for Woodruff and Evans Construction. After a few years, he and his family moved to an acreage near Pomeroy, where Steve operated his own construction business. After 25 years on the acreage, he moved into Pomeroy. Steve continued to work construction in many capacities until his passing. He also worked as a farm hand over the years, which he enjoyed. Steve was a past member of the Pomeroy school board and the National Rifle Association. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, playing cards with friends at the Schendel Shop, spending time with family and following his children and grandchildren’s sporting activities. He enjoyed splitting wood and took pride in heating his own home. Survivors include his sons, Chris Johnson of St. Petersburg, FL, Jason (Vanessa) Johnson of Sparta, NJ and Tyler (Sue) Johnson of Walnut Creek, CA; daughter, Lynn (Jon) Bellows of Pocahontas; grandchildren, Emma, Ace, Lauren, Graham, Grace, James, Louise, Brody, Maci, William and Henry; mother, Mary Johnson of Newell, and sisters, Susan Christiansen, Marilee (Delbert) Knerr and Marilyn Christiansen.
