Flossie Mae Hoffman
(May 29, 1934 - April 10, 2023)Flossie “Flo” (Lasher) Hoffmann, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, age 88, passed away on Monday, April 10, 2023, at Accura HealthCare of Pomeroy, IA. Flossie Mae was born on May 29, 1934, in Farnhamville, IA, to parents George and Bertha (Green) Millis. Flo was united in marriage to Paul Lasher and was blessed with a son, Tom. For many years, Flo and Paul spent summer vacations at the lake or South Dakota visiting relatives. They also took two trips by car to California to visit relatives. Later in life, after Paul passed away, Flo was united in marriage to Elmer Hoffman. Prior to Elmer’s stroke, they enjoyed dancing the Polka at various venues. After his stroke, they enjoyed playing cards with her sister Mary and their friends. Except for a short time when she and Elmer lived in Carroll, IA, Flo had lived her entire adult life in Lake City, IA. During Flo’s life, she worked on an assembly line in Fort Dodge, IA, waitressed and cooked at various restaurants, and assisted at a nursing home for a period of time. She also did home daycare for children. Her three big enjoyments in life were dancing, playing cards, and reading. She would sit for hours reading her books and playing a digital Solitaire game. In her younger days, she enjoyed a beer or cocktail. She hated being called “Flossie” by anyone other than close family members. Flo had two pets, Brownie 2 and Lyra. They were her pride and joy and she loved them dearly. Lyra will be interned with her and be with her forever. Flo was generous to all who knew her and enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Those left to cherish her memory include her brother Fred Millis of Lake City, IA; son Tom (Cyndie) Lasher of Arlington, TX; grandchildren: Nathan Lasher of Grand Prairie, TX, Dawn (Russ) Burchfield of Arlington, TX, Thomas (Julia) Orthbandt of Belmont, CA; Che Valdiva of Columbus, OH; great-grandchildren: Brody and Lily Burchfield, Noah Lasher, Kyla, and Nikki Orthbandt; step-children: Dale Hoffmann, Don Hoffmann, Sharon Eischeid, Wanda Neuman, and Mary Thompson; and several other extended family members and friends. Flossie was preceded in death by her first husband Paul Lasher, second husband Elmer Hoffmann, parents George and Bertha (Green) Millis, brother Robert Millis, and sisters Pearl McCormick and Mary Waters.
