(August 13, 1928 - April 27, 2023)

Dwight Johnson, age 94 of Lake City, IA, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at Shady Oaks Care Center in Lake City, IA. Dwight Franklin Johnson was born on August 13, 1928, to parents Benjamin and Mae (Harrison) Johnson in Jolley, IA, on the family farm. He lived with his parents in Jolley and attended country school and later moved to Lake City, IA when he was eleven years old. Dwight graduated from West View High in Lake City in 1945 and then enlisted to serve his country in the United States Navy. He served during World War II and earned the rank of Storekeeper Distributing Third Class. He was honorably discharged on December 8, 1947.

In January of 1952, Dwight was united in marriage to Frances Carol Blair at the Yetter, IA church. This union was blessed with four children: Jeffery, Doug, Nicholas, and Perry. They raised their family in the Yetter area where Dwight was a farmer. Dwight retired from farming full-time and moved to Lake City in 2001. In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking, golfing, and gambling. Dwight was also a member of the Lake City American Legion Post 31, and the Lake City Union Church.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Jeffery (Kathy) Johnson of Lake City, IA, Nicholas (Jane) Johnson of Auburn, IA, and Perry (Jill) Johnson, of Auburn, IA; 7 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; numerous friends and extended family members.

Dwight was preceded in death by his wife Frankie; son Doug Johnson; parents; and siblings Doris Sudano and Jerry Johnson.
