Norman Roller, age 84 of Yetter, IA, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2023, at Shady Oaks Care Center in Lake City, IA. Norman Arthur Roller was born on November 30, 1938, to parents Arthur and Martha (Batz) Roller at their family home in Yetter, IA. He attended Yetter Country School and graduated from Lake City High School. After graduation, Norman enlisted to serve his country with the United States Army. On August 18, 1963, Norman was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Bradley at the Union Church in Lake City. This union was blessed with two children: Kimberly and Patricia. Together they raised their family in town in Yetter. Norman worked various jobs throughout his life, starting at Bowie International and farming. He later worked as a truck driver for Landus Cooperative until his retirement in 2020. Norman was very active within his community and served on the city council, or mayor for most of his adult life. In his free time, Norman enjoyed the outdoors and going fishing and camping. He cherished his time spent with family, especially his two grandsons, Blake and Logan. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 59 years Barbara Roller of Yetter, IA; children: Kimberly Roller of Yetter, IA, and Patricia (Jim) Fonken of Lake City, IA; grandchildren: Blake (Tara) Fonken of Lake City, IA, and Logan (Abby) Fonken of New York City, NY; brother Clayton (Carol) Roller of Lake View, IA; and many extended family members and friends. Norman was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Martha Roller; siblings: Marge Smith, Jess Roller, and Verna Strand; and parents-in-law Les and Sarah Bradley.
