Carl Bryan Mikesell
(May 5, 1951 - May 10, 2023)Carl (Mike) Mikesell Jr., age 72 of Farnhamville, IA, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, IA. Carl Bryan was born on May 1, 1951, to parents Carl and Velma (Holtry) Mikesell in Des Moines, IA. He grew up in the Des Moines area where he attended school. On October 6, 1990, Carl was united in marriage to Roberta Kay Barnes. They combined their families and raised five children: Jimmy, Kandie, Cherri, Renee, and Annette. Bobbie later passed away on May 24, 2020. Carl worked various jobs throughout his life. He worked at Swift Packing House for 15 years and then did maintenance for Methodist Hospital. Carl also worked for 17 years at the Lohrville Locker and three years at Burd's Bar in Lohrville, IA. Carl had many hobbies like woodworking, crafting, making jewelry, fishing, playing cards, and camping. He also liked to play billiards and darts. Carl loved his motorcycle and took many road trips. He also was an ordained minister and was able to perform weddings. He preached at seven weddings in six years! Most of all, Carl cherished the time spent with his family and friends. He will be truly missed by those that knew and loved him. Those left to cherish his memory include his significant other Phylis Brend of Lohrville, IA; children: Jimmy (Vanessa) Mikesell of Carlisle, IA, Kandie (Dan) Kraft of Grand Junction, IA, Cherri (Tim) Gullett of Lohrville, IA, Renee (Don) Goettsch of Farnhamville, IA, Annette (Jim) Bellcock of Rockwell City, IA; grandchildren: Cody (Haley) Mikesell, Seth Mikesell, Skyler (Andrew) Robb, Marky Mikesell, Brandi Perry, Kelsey Stringer, Kaylynn Graber, Micheal (Heather) Maschke, Samantha (Zach) Landreth, Tiffany (Paul) McCoy, Cassie (Kaleb) Lentz, Kyle (Kaylina) Bellcock, Erin Bellcock, and Taryn Korthals; 40 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several extended family members and friends.
