Donald Gordon Haack
(November 14, 1929 - August 17, 2010)

Donald Gordon Haack was born on November 14, 1929, at Pomeroy. He was the son of Herman and Marie (Gutz) Haack. Don graduated from Pomeroy High School in 1947 and served in the US Army from '51-'53. He received his Bachelor's of Education from Buena Vista College in 1956 then received his masters in arts in education from State College of Iowa in 1962. Don then taught in various roles in education at Jolley, Pomeroy and Fort Dodge. Don married Lucille (Tootie) Gehrt on September 4, 1955 at Pomeroy. The couple moved to Fort Dodge in 1962 and in 1997, the couple moved to Apple Valley, Minnesota to be near their children and grandchildren. Tootie passed away on November 21, 2004, and Don continued to make his home in Apple Valley. Don was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church at Pomeroy. His main interests were reading, ballroom dancing and traveling. Survivors include his children: Wendy Mees, Steve (Lorrie) Haack; grandchildren: Leah and Daniel Haack and brothers and sisters: Robert Haack, Lolly Hammen, Sally Desormey, Chuck Haack, Leslie Haack, Carol Ford, Lee Haack and Judy Binzen.
