Irene Estell York, second daughter of Gleason and Mary York, was born in Olin, Ia., June 4, 1889. She moved to Calhoun County with her parents when a small child. She united with the Christian Church at Rinard when 15 years old. After moving to Farnhamville, she united with the Congregational Church. She was a telephone operator in Farnhamville for 14 years and handled the work efficiently and with a smile for everyone. From Farnhamville she went to Bloomington, Ill., and then to Shell Lake, Wis., where she was united in marriage to Charles F. Brown, Jan. 1, 1926. Later with her husband, she moved to Spooner, Wis. She leaves to mourn her husband, Charles F. Brown; her father, Gleason York; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Frances Summers of Farnhamville and Mrs. Sadye Johnson of Kenosha, Wis.; seven nieces and nephews, many distant relatives and a host of friends.
