Derald Stoney Burke
(May 8, 1931 - June 23, 2009)

Derald Burke - age 78, of Pomeroy, passed away on June 23, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge. Derald "Stoney" Dean Burke was born May 8, 1931, on the Bjork Family Farm East of Pomeroy to Ralph and Marie (Antons) Burke (their only child). Derald was baptized and confirmed in the Evangelical Reformed Church in Pomeroy. He was a lifelong member of the First United Church of Christ. Stoney attended Fonda, Jolley and Pomeroy schools. He married Donna Armstrong on June 4, 1949 in Fort Dodge. Stoney farmed in the Jolley and Pomeroy area for 30 years. He semi retired in 1977, and worked in area fertilizer companies. Derald and Donna enjoyed traveling with their motor home, wintering in Texas for 30 years, he enjoyed golfing, playing cards, camping, fishing and checking on his grandkids farming. Derald is survived by his wife: Donna; children: Dennis (Karen) Burke of Soap Lake, Washington, Coelet (Nick) Hammen of Pocahontas, Kely Stuart of Pomeroy and Delmar (Ronda) Burke of Fonda; eighteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
