Ann Marie Lockner
(June 3, 1953 - June 11, 2023)

Ann Marie (Haffner) Lockner, age 70, of Lohrville, Iowa passed away on June 11th at the Paula J. Baber Hospice House in Fort Dodge after battling cancer for several years. Ann was born June 3, 1953, to Drexel and Johanna Haffner in Jolley. She grew up on her parent’s farm in Jolley until the third grade and graduated from Lytton High School in 1971. After high school graduation, she attended Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, Iowa, and received her nursing degree in 1973. When Ann graduated from ICCC, she was nominated by her classmates and awarded Nurse of the Year. On September 14, 1974, she married Larry Lockner in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lohrville and they resided on their farm in rural Lohrville, Iowa. After graduation, Ann worked as a nurse at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge for over 48 years in a variety of nursing settings—Intensive Care Unit, Emergency Department, Case Management, and Utilization Review/Revenue Cycle. She retired from nursing in February 2022. Ann spent her life caring for others and found nursing to be rewarding work. She was a kind and positive mentor to many healthcare professionals. Any staff who interacted with Ann shared that not only was she a mentor, but a teacher, and friend who influenced so many to become better caregivers and nurses. She always wanted everyone to feel welcome and was known as someone who made a difference with a loving, generous spirit. Ann’s kindness was evident through her thoughtful interactions with others, and she inspired a strong work ethic.
Ann was very talented and creative. In her spare time, she enjoyed doing many crafts—sewing (including making doll clothes sold at craft shows), painting, flower gardening, crocheting, quilting, and candle making—to mention a few. Ann also loved to cook and generously share her baked goodies with others and specifically with her colleagues at the hospital. In addition to her many hobbies, on weekends you could find Ann and Larry going to rock ‘n roll concerts. Some of her favorite bands were Saucy Jack, Pet Rock, Standing Hampton, and several others. She enjoyed spending time with family and taking day trips with friends. Ann was a member and attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lohrville, IA. Ann’s most important treasure was her family. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Larry; son Matt (Ames); son-in-law Ed Maxwell (Madrid, IA) and grandchildren Erica, Charlie, and Leah; brothers Gene (Julie) of Windsor, CO, Ron (Susan) of Solon, IA and Brian (Dena) from Story City, IA; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Andrea Maxwell, parents, and maternal and paternal grandparents.Copyright Lampe & Powers Funeral Home, (712) 464-7665, https://www.powersfh.net
