Obituary – Mrs. Jet Dawson
Matilda Johnson Dawson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Johnson, was born in Sherman Township, Calhoun County, June 19, 1877. She passed away at a hospital in Fort Dodge on Aug. 21, 1936, at the age of 59 years, 2 months and 2 days. She grew to womanhood on the farm homestead where she was born. On Aug. 29, 1900 she was united in marriage to Jeremiah E. Dawson at Manson. Mr. Dawson was then deputy sheriff and they moved to Rockwell City where they have since made their home. To this union three children were born. She united with the local Presbyterian church on Mar. 16, 1913. She was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge. There remain to mourn her loss her husband, J. E. Dawson; three children, Mervin, Wilburt and Mrs. Lois Knapp, all of Rockwell City; three sisters, Mrs. Alma Bleam, Mrs. William Dawson, Mrs. Selma Widen, all of Manson; one brother, Oscar Johnson of Richards, and four grandchildren. Her parents, one brother, Herbert, and two sisters, Anna and Minnie, preceded her in death.
