LIFELONG POMEROY RESIDENT IS DEAD
Richard Meyer Passes Away At Mayo Hospital At Age of 51 Years
Advocate’s county news service, Pomeroy – Richard H. Meyer, 50, a lifelong resident of this community, died at Rochester, Minn., early Sunday morning. He had gone to the Mayo hospital about ten days ago to take treatment for dropsy. The body was returned to his home here and funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, of which he was a member, Rev. P. E. Ross had charge. Burial was in Union Cemetery. Meyer was born on the old Chris Meyer farm three miles southwest of here. He made his home here until 23 years ago when he moved into town with his parents. At the age of two he suffered paralysis of the legs. It was found necessary to remove one limb. He used an artificial leg and crutches for a while, but later was unable to use them. For many years he used a motor chair from which he derived much pleasure and enjoyment, going down town daily. His congenial disposition won him many friends and he will be missed from the streets of Pomeroy.
