(March 18, 1860 – July 11, 1936)

Obituary
Richard Benton Moore was born Mar. 18, 1860, at Marion, Ill., where he grew to manhood. He passed away at his home in Rockwell City on July 11, 1936 after a very brief illness. He came to Iowa in 1893 and settled with his brother on a farm six miles southwest of Rockwell City. In 1909 they moved to another farm three miles southwest of Rockwell City. In 1924 he moved into town, which has since been his home. In 1904, at Marion, Ill., he was united in marriage with Mrs. Lena Moore, who preceded him in death in November 1920. Two children also have died, Frank in infancy and Ralph as a young man in 1925. He is survived by one stepson, Richard Benton Moore northwest of Rockwell City; one sister, Mrs. Elvira Hudspeth of Marion, Ill., and two brothers, Andrew J. Moore of Worthington, Minn., and James Moore of Rockwell City. Mr. Moore was a sturdy and dependable citizen who did much to advance the material prosperity of the community, always willing to lend a helpful hand to those in need. Not a formal member of any church, he gladly supported then financially when called upon.
