Edith E. Meyer
(January 18, 1921 - April 19, 2009)

Edith E. Meyer, age 88, died on April 19, 2009, at the Pomeroy Care Center. Edith Elizabeth Bell was born on January 18, 1921, at Trinity, TX. She was the daughter of Theodore and Lena (Wangen) Bell. At a young age, her family moved to the Albert Lea-Austin, Minnesota area. She was educated in that area. On September 5, 1942, Edith married Harlan Tufte at Abilene, TX. Harlan died on July 11, 1954. On February 4, 1957, she married Harry W. Meyer at Decorah. The couple made their home on their farm north of Pomeroy. In 1996, they moved into Pomeroy. Harry died on April 21, 2004, and Edith entered the Pomeroy Care Center in May of 2004. Edith was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, the Senior Citizens, the Garden Club and the Chatter Club. She enjoyed camping, painting, gardening, sewing, reading and spending time with her family. Survivors include her children: Steven (Nancy Giovannetti) Tufte of Pequot Lakes, MN, Leslie Tufte of Minneapolis, MN, David (Renee) Meyer of Cedar Falls, Ron (Patti) Meyer of Pomeroy and Ronda (Delmar) Burke of Fonda; fourteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and brother, Hank (Billie) Bell of Kasson, MN.
