Maxine E. Oswald
(August 19, 1919 - April 19, 2009)

Maxine E. Oswald, age 89, died on April 19, 2009, at the Pomeroy Care Center. Maxine Eula Wolter was born on August 19, 1919, at Pomeroy. She was the daughter of R.O. and Pearl (Wells) Wolter. Maxine was raised by her father and step-mother, Lizzie Wolter. She graduated from Pomeroy High School in 1936, and attended Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls and Morningside College at Sioux City. On February 21, 1940, Maxine married Arthur Oswald at Pomeroy. The couple made their home at Pomeroy. Arthur died on May 29, 1984, and Maxine continued to make her home in Pomeroy. She entered the Pomeroy Care Center in September of 2005. Maxine was a member of the United Methodist Church, the UMW, the SAK Club, the 4-G Club and Senior Citizens. She enjoyed embroidering, crocheting and reading in her spare time. She especially loved to cook for her family and friends. Survivors include her children: Bonnie (Dallas) Keiswetter of Manson, Daniel (Dianne) Oswald of Osceola, James Oswald of Osceola and Linda (Jim) Boullion of Norfolk, NE; nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
