Marjorie Sarah Abens
(September 18, 1924 - March 24, 2009)

Marjorie Sarah Abens was born September 18, 1924, in Manson, Iowa. She was the daughter of Louis and Mattie (Wieker) Abens. She graduated from Ware High School in 1942. On March 4, 1946, Marjorie married Virgil Albrecht of Pocahontas. The couple settled on the family farm near Pocahontas. Virgil passed away in 1986 and Marjorie continued to live in Pocahontas. In 2003, she moved to the Des Moines area to be near her family. Marjorie was a member of the Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church, Catholic Ladies Society, CD of A, Missionary Society, American Legion Auxiliary and Jills Club. She was an avid music fan and she loved to play the organ and piano at her church, local nursing homes and for other organizations. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening and making scrapbooks. Survivors include her son, Donald (Vickie) Albrecht of Birmingham, AL; daughter-in-law, Dianna Albrecht of Woodward; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Elvera Peterson of Farnhamville. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Virgil; infant daughter, Diane; and a son, Duane Albrecht.
