(July 8, 1850 - October 15, 1933)

Obituary – Mrs. J. H. Lent
Mrs. J. H. Lent passes away last Sunday afternoon, Oct 15, at 3:45 o’clock at the home of her son, Claud, near Clare. Two weeks ago last Monday, she fell and broke her hip. Then she was taken to the Lutheran Hospital at Fort Dodge where the break was cared for and the next day she was brought back to her home. For a few days she seemed to be recovering but later complications arose which made her recovery very doubtful. Last Friday she took a decided turn for the worse and her other son, Charles of Manson, was sent for. She finally passed into a coma from which she never rallied. Both sons were with her to the end. Julia E. Terbush was born July 8, 1850 in Oneida County, N. Y. On Dec. 23, 1867 she was united in marriage to J. H. Lent at Beloit, Wis. Two sons were born to this union, Charles of Manson and Claud, of near Clare. In the spring of 1869 Mr. and Mrs. Lent came to Iowa and homesteaded three miles east of Twin Lakes. Later they spent a year in Pottawattamie County, returning from there to Manson, where they continued to make their home. On Sunday, Dec. 23, 1917, Mr. and Mrs. Lent celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Mr. Lent passed on Dec. 21, 1927, lacking but two days of being able to observe their sixtieth wedding anniversary together. Since Mr. Lent’s passing Mrs. Lent had made her home with her son, Claud, and family near Clare, but made frequent visits here at her son, Charlie’s home, when able to do so. Mrs. Lent leaves to mourn her passing her two sons, Charles G. of Manson and Claud J. of near Clare; two grandsons, Glenn and Cecil, and one granddaughter, Elva, all of near Clare, and three great granddaughters, Helen, Vernita, and Lorraine Place, all of Manson.
