Obituary – Mrs. Fredrick Joseph Goetz
Catherine P. Fischer was born Apr. 21, 1858 in Taswell County, Ill. She united with the Evangelical Church in early life and remained a member until the time of her death. On Feb. 24, 1881, she was united in marriage to Fredrick Joseph Goetz and immediately after their marriage they came to Iowa and settled on a farm three miles south of Rockwell City, where they resided until 1913, when they moved into their present home in Rockwell City where she passed away Dec. 27, 1938, at the age of 80 years, 8 months and t days. She is survived by six of her eight children. They are Mrs. J. M. Reichert of Vincent, Ia., John A. and Fred E. of Rockwell City, Mrs. R. W. Schwarck of Spencer, Ia., Mrs. Thomas M. Shimon of Pocahontas, Ia., and Martha, at home. Also 16 grandchildren and one great grandchild, besides many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon from the Methodist Church with Rev. Arthur Peterson officiating. Mrs. Bert Prince and Mrs. Paul Wilson sang “Shall We Gather at the River” and “We’ll Never Say Good-bye in Heaven.” Pallbearers were six grandsons, Marvin Goetz of Clarion, Howard Goetz of Des Moines, Dale Reichert of Fort Dodge, Arthur Goetz of Rockwell City, Duane Shimon of Pocahontas and Myron Schwarck of Spencer.
