Mrs. Sigler -- Pioneer Resident, Died Monday

Mrs. Priscilla Sigler passed away at the home of her son, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Sigler in west Pomeroy, Monday afternoon, Feb. 14, 1944, at 4:25, following an illness of many years of diabetes. She had been bedfast since early June of 1943. Mrs. Sigler reached the advanced age of 83 years, 9 months and 20 days. She had made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Sigler for twelve years, receiving the best of care during her declining years. Priscilla Matheny, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Matheny was born on April 19, 1860, at Vincennes, in Lee county, Iowa, later moving to Carrolton in Carroll county. Here she was united in marriage to Jeremiah Sigler, a Civil War Veteran, on October 25, 1880.

Mr. and Mrs. Sigler took up residence in Pomeroy more than twenty five years ago. Mr. Sigler died March 4, 1914, and Mrs. Sigler continued to make her home here.

Seven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Sigler; Mrs. Ida Butler, Mrs. Mirtie Bush and Fred Sigler, all of Sioux Falls, So. Dakota; George Sigler of Manson, and Charles Sigler of Pomeroy. Two sons, Harry of Paton and William of Des Moines, preceded their mother in death.

Mrs. Sigler is also survived by 26 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. Eight of her grandsons are now in the U.S. armed service.

Funeral services were held this Thursday afternoon at 1:30 at the family home and at 2 o'clock at the Wesley Methodist church, with the pastor, Rev. Earl D. Hart in charge.

Interment was made in Union cemetery by the side of her husband, the Michael funeral service in charge.

Pall bearers were L.H. Gaedke, C.A. Marple, John B. Loots, Bert Drommer, Fred E. Hoyer and Harry K. Larsen.
